About this product

Product Information

These Fender Custom Shop Fat 50s are a great way to get that vintage 1950s single-coil sound. This set of three pickups uses the highest quality materials. The Alnico 5 magnets will help you to hit those bass notes. Formvar magnet wire is used in winding them. The middle pickup is reverse-wound to limit humming noises. These Fat 50s have been designed to look authentic, too, in aged white. They are great for blues and rock guitarists.

  • "BEST modern Stratocaster pickup's of all time"

I first heard these pickup's when I purchased the very first batch of 2012 Fender American Standard Stratocaster Olympic White with Maple Neck. I had been looking at Fender American Standards for a few years but when Fender announced the all new for 2012 American Standard Stratocaster's would be fitted with these "Custon Shop" FAT 50's (Alnico V) with the middle pickup being RWRP and the second tone control would be wired to the Bridge Pickup and that potentiometer would be a "No-Load" unit. There is a "detent" on the second tone control between 9 & 10. When on 10 the bridge pickup is bypassed from the circuit allowing that pickup to run straight to the output jack or "pure bypass". To me this is what I was waiting for "The Ultimate Modern Fender Stratocaster". In 2016 Fender changed the ...

  • What a Strat is supposed to sound like.

These are the pickups that make a Strat sound like a Strat. Bright, "clucky", "quacky". If you want a fat, mellow sound, look elsewhere. If the sound is too crisp, you can always dial it back, but you can't make muddy pickups sound good. I've replaced the boutique pickups in my Strats with Fat 50s.

  • Fat 50s

One of the best custom shop improvements you can make to your strat , put a set of these in and enjoy a beefy strat tone ! One of my favorites ! Add a lindy Fralin baseplate to bridge pickup and you have a awesome clear sounding strat!

  • A Classic Set

That middle pickup, though.... worth the price of the set. Please don't let me be misunderstood. In it's entirety, the set is beyond comparison. My all-time favorite. Each pickup has it's own personality and function. The neck pickup is smoooooth. Bridge, bright and precise. Blend mid and neck on the forth position, no words.
