A good idea, but do your measuring before buying
Two things to carefully consider when buying this: (1) The post hole width, not every Gretsch electric base has the same post width (2) Bridge height: This will not work on a Gretsch Jet style guitar without some grinding, due to the naturally low bridge clearance. That said, with a little time on a grinding wheel I have it fitted well onto an aftermarket base I had to buy. Expect a little loss of sustain as compared to a bridge with more angular bridge string supports. Very comfortable on the hand as compared to the Synchromatic bridge.
