A solidly built pickup.
The pickup is very easy to install If you just want a go to pickup for your Acoustic guitar and take off again for another, or you can permanently leave it in and thread the jacl socket through the end of your acoustic. Installation is simple. Slide the pickup under the strings and into the soundhole. Push the two wings underneath into position and tighten the screws on the top and your done for external use. I've attache suction cups to the external wire to hold against the body. Works fine The sound quality it produces is excellent. Very clear with the bonus of being able to move the pickup around the sound hole and get a slight change in tone. I put mine into a guitar which already has a built in piezo pickup for a more solid steel strung guitar sound and is great for recording ... I really can't find any cons. This little device is just so easy to set up and install. Plug it into either an acoustic amp or into an electric guitar amp., the results are unbelievably good. I'm running it through a Boss GT1 Effects Processor and into a Fender Mustang amp and it is just superb. I highly recommend this pickup to any acoustic owners who would like to broaden the capabilities of their guitar.I really can't find any cons. Classic look, and a classic sound from this acoustic pick up. For a passive pick up. it produces enough punch that you could ever wish for, without a pre-amp. I wasn't really looking for an acoustic tone when I bought it, more of a warm, smooth jazz tone, and thats what it gives in bucket loads. Im not sure how long these lovely little things are going to be available, and if my suspicion is right, that Gretsch will stop making them sometime, then they will become sought after, so get one now.
