The good: Product inside box is new and functions as it should. The not so good: Said it was in NJ, but came from CA. Double boxing would have been nice considering bought as brand new; product box a bit beat up from 3000 mile trip. Also, a simple "Hey, thanks for your purchase" "Hope it arrived ok" type of communication would have been appreciated seeing how it was a $500 plus transaction after tax. BTW, I would have paid extra for double boxing.

    Versatile Alnico EMG 60 in Neck Position

    This 60A set provides great tones from the neck, paired with an 85 in the bridge. Not quite thrash level, but still heavy while staying flexible and cleaning up nicely. Definitely recommended!

    Great neck pickup replacement. More headroom and cleaner tone for active pickup.

    I had an EMG 81/85 and found the 81 too compressed, thin and sterile. I moved the neck 85 to the bridge and added the 60A to the neck and the tone opened up to a nice organic, warmer tone with more headroom and cleaner sound. It has a more active feel but still with the bite of an active pickup. More percussive and faster response. Huge difference and worth the investment in the swap.

    I have two on one guitar.

    Great clean pickup I use it for jazz on a ESP Ltd PB-401 guitar with flatwound strings, through a Fender Rumble bass amp. Just needs a slight reduction on the guitar volume pot when the amp is turned up. Flat eq on the bass amp. Clean and clear not just for distortion.

    What a difference a magnet makes

    The EMG 60A is of course a 60 with the ceramic magnet swapped for Alnico. What's the difference? Well it has a Kim Jong-un and smoother sound, less of the hard 'clang' to the treble of the 60(c) for sweeter cleans and a more open, fluid delivery with the gain turned up. The age old EMG 18v mod works magic bringing better dynamic response, clarity with extended frequency response and depth. 50k pots add a touch more bite.
