My first Hipshot was purchased back in the 80's and since that time, I have outfitted every gig bass with one. I just scored my 14th one this month. They are made of the same high quality materials and precision as ever. I consider them essential, especially if you cover bands from the 90's or prog bands such as Tool. They are satisfactorily precise dropping the E string as low ac C with equal precision retuning back to E. Even if you are not playing music in drop D tuning, having the option of low D is cool and it takes little time to adjust to having the low strings tuned to a perfect fifth. The detuning lever is conveniently placed to allow operation on the fly. Operation is completely intuitive and mounting is very simple and well-described in the instructions and does NO DAMAGE ... The hipshot is the best thing that I have ever done now I don't have to bring two or three bass guitars to a gig just the one base that detunes and the fretless or 8 string for even more attraction and blow away the crowd it is versatile and easy to use once you take a few minutes to get it dialed in and great awesome I want some for my six string guitars now! Well worth the money excellent

Always wanted one of these but never pulled the trigger on it. Install took less than 10 minutes and the holes fit perfectly with the original 1975 fender tuner plate. No additional drilling was needed. Shipping was good and on time. Cost almost half what it does directly from hipshot. Very pleased
