Well constructed and fits like a charme on my MIM P-Bass
I ordered this pickup to replace the white one that came with the base. Since the body of the bass I own is black, I found a few picture on the web with Black Pickguard on Black Body and really liked the look. I found this one and ordered it immediately. It a Genuine Fender aftermarket product so that means it it sure to fit my bass. The installation was a breeze and took only minutes. No extra routing of incorrect holes. It fits like a glove and looks great on my bass. I put a Captain Harlock Skull & Crossbones sticker and voilà ! If you tired of the pickguard that came with your Fender Bass and looking for a good looking replacement that will make your bass make a statement. Unfortunately, although the quality of the pickguard was good, it was not a simple "bolt on" solution for me. The cutouts for the pickups did not match my Squier P-bass's configuration and a lot of cutting and filing was necessary to make the pickguard fit. There might be a drop-in pickguard out there somewhere, but this did not work well for me. Bottom line is, try to find a OEM pickguard for the make and model of Fender guitar you are buying the replacement for. Unfortunately, although the quality of the pickguard was good, it was not a simple "bolt on" solution for me. The cutouts for the pickups did not match my Squier P-bass's configuration and a lot of cutting and filing was necessary to make the pickguard fit. Nic e upgrade to a MIM bass to replace the white guard with a black one.
Docked it one star because I had to remove some material from the area around the pickup, about an eighth an inch from the pickguard , to fit my MIM P bass. I would have been nice to know that if it only fit the MIA versions, if that is the case since it was a bit of a pricey upgrade. Looks real nice, black on a burgundy body with black pickups.
