I've been experimenting with pickups for a long time, and recently tried a Dimarzio Transition bridge pickup. I first put it in a vintage Aria LP style guitar along with a Dimarzio Bluesbucker neck pickup. The sound was perfect. It has just the right amount of bite, without being spikey. It seems to push my amp into a slight overdrive without being too hot. It doesn't overpower my neck pickup. It's like a hot pickup with great tone too. I've since put this pickup in a vintage Ibanez AS50, a PRS custom 24, and even in the bridge position of a Stratocaster and a tele. I works perfectly with each of these guitar types. I highly recommend them, and I'm sure I will be using another one for my next project. Sigs Guitar Repair, Boyertown, PA.

I expected this pickups to be good... but i was blown away! overdriven and distorted they sounds much better than the Dimarzio PAF 36th anniversary previously installed in my guitar (Cort KX-Custom)... they sound rounded, with more punch, and singing voice at the same time, i mean they sound powerful but not shrill highs or boomy bass at all... bridge is perfectly balanced, neck tends to be warm and bassy but right in the limit of the good way... My guitar is in the bright side, so, compared with de PAFs 36th, this set has bass side a lot more present and defined, pretty obvious with power chords... bridge is louder than neck... Playing clean, both Transitions are less definded string to string and less "acoustic" "woody" than PAFs 36th... bridge overdrives a little the clean channel, but still is warmer than the 36th DP223, and sounds rounder/fuller, so i prefer the clean of the transition bridge even if has clearly that "high output pickup" character, still has good clarity and not sterile at all, i vet due low resistence (around 11kOhm) coil split is great (splitting to inner coil at least) it retain that roundness and improve clarity with chording. neck is quietter than bridge, and retain that warm/bassy character ear while distorted... compared con paf 36th DP103, his cleans has less edge over 36th cleans, in fact i think is a tie.... because has almost the same output but its a little less defined... but is more warmer/bassy in a good way... so i think depending on apliccation, one could be better than the other.... splitting to outer coil (screws side) sounds good but in clean channel tends to be so quietter compared with full humbucking, that im planning to split to inner coil to see what happens... distorted the neck, full humbucker, sings a lot better to my ears than the DP103 tough... overall, pretty happy with this pickup set so far...Read full review

DP255 Very smooth no bumps or dips in frequency response but not for the shredder unless you are prepared to dump some 2 to 2.5k equalization into you signal chain Very Good for recording but lacks a just little high end. Best for all around styles but the DP 100 is still king of Distortion. However I still give it a 5 for smoothness.

I was doing a replacement for a client, and was looking to get close to the original. Many searches for info and reviews later, we came to this pickup. It's everything the manufacturer's website claims. Clarity, subtlety, manageability, energy, sweet, sassy, etc. I have 2 more guitars waiting for upgrades, and this will be the #1 choice.
